Before yall start grazing on this thread hear me out.

I've searched everywhere for a solution but I cant find one - this is my problem:

A week ago I was watchin a movie on my fresh install of Windows 7 (it was only a few days old installed on a new HDD). When I finished and exited full screen - Windows decided to take the opportunity to tell me I got a minute to save all my shit before it evicts me. What I didnt know was, the damn thing was serious - its actually blocked me off permanently.

Everytime I start it up - it starts ok, then displays the girly Win 7 logo, then shows my mouse on a black screen (I can move around the mouse) - waits for about 2 minutes and restarts again.

    Any ideas?

Ive also got 2 Windows XPs running off 2 seperate drive - one's my secondary drive and the other my back up drive.

Sounds to me like your win7 install was never authenticated. Did you register it when you installed it?

My Windows 7 is legit and authenticated. I got the academic version - my uni is dishin em out like they're hot cakes.

When it gave me a minute to save before it shut down (it just switched itself off, it didnt do a proper shutdown) it came back on and did a HDD error scan and came up with a few errors. It then fixed em and the rest of the scan came out clean. When I use the Win 7 cd to repair the startup it says there are no errors.

I'm pretty good with Pc's and one's got me stumped.

Does safe mode do the same thing?

I cant start on safe mode either. No matter what mode I start in on it just displays the windows logo (or shows the files loading on safe mode/with network...etc) then just shows a movable mouse against a black screen for a while before reset.

I'd also like to add when it does this, it counts it as a hard reset and brings me back to the "ur computer wasn't shut down properly" screen.

Also, I got an next problem and I thought id take out 2 birds with this post - I've got access to win7 64 which I'm savin for my next build - and I'm tempted to install it. Basically I got:

AMD Phenom Tripple core 8450 - thats three cores running at 2100
    4 gig DDR2 800 ram
    Geforece 9500GT

Ive been running this system for 2 yrs (except a 2 gig upgrade) and i'm planning on upgrading as soon as I can raise the funds.

Is it worth installin 64 for the extra ram for the time bein?

Try what man? Ive tried everything. I've tried starting it up on every option on the startup F8 menu. Ive even tried going onto my XP and changing drive letters. Nothing works

Doubt this will work, but, worth a shot:

At the "recovery console" in 7, yes, try:

    slmgr -rearm
