I was in the process of upgrading my laptop when it blue screened half-way through. it was after it had restarted and was expanding the windows files. it restarted too quickly for me to see the error code and now when it boots these options appear:

    • Windows 7
    • Setup rollback

and of course, neither options are working! (gets stuck in an endless restart cycle) so it can no longer boot, and there are some fairly important docs on that hard drive. i need some help; is it possible to rescue the data?

    specs if they help:
    toshiba satellite l305d-s5934
    3gb of RAM
upgrading from vista home premium 32 bit

    any help is much appreciated!

Do you have access to another computer?
If so, buy an adapter similar to this
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...de_sata_to_usb_adapter-_-12-156-017-_-Product
pull the hd from the laptop and attach it to the other computer via the USB port.
Open the file manager and locate the files on the laptop hd you want to save and copy them to the desktop of the other computer.
Note: I always select copy rather than move because if either computer hiccups or the power goes off, if you are moving, you will have lost the files. If you were copying, all the files will still be available at the original location so you can start copying again.
