We only had the PC for about a month and we have a problem. actually 2 issues.

    1. USB Driver and Controller are NOT working
    2. Cant troubleshoot to fix problems.

Device Manager says both USB host controller/Root Hub are corrupted and/or missing or whatever.

Try to troubleshoot and it just says it cant start.

also its been doing this since last thursday(Event Viewer).

    Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit

One idea, if you have only had this for a month you very likely have restore points easily back to date of purchase. Restoring to a point b/4 any problems might solve this.
Then, of course, you'll need to do updates and any other changes you made since purchase.

    Hi

Did you make sure you opened the Command Prompt as an Admin in clicking Start and typing smd in the Start Search box and when it shows in the list right click and choose Run as Administrator?

What I would try is to in Device Manager right click and uninstall that device is listing as corrupt and then install the Chipset driver as Smokingun mentioned (need the one for your PC or system) then reboot and Windows generally installs the USB controller and drivers back.

If you dont know the make and model of your PC is HP, DELL etc or the Motherboard make and model as in ASUS, Gigabyte etc then run the below as written

srry for the late reply but thanks to brandypeppy about his system restore points the issue has been resolved.
Apparently the usb drives had an update somewhere between 1/24-1/30 and corrupted it. she has it set to atuo update through HP Assistant.I restored it to the 24th and it worked.
