System: Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64 bit

Had new hard drive & Windows 7 installed today. I wanted to enable verbose mode so that I see messages from the OS when the laptop boots and when I login. I did the following:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System

Created new key "verbosestatus" with value of "1". But when I shut down then booted the laptop I did not see the messages during boot. Could there be something else blocking the verbose messages? Or did I do something wrong?

    You followed the correct procedure.
    But...
You must create a new DWORD Value 'verbosestatus' with a value of '1'.
