    Hello,

Last night I successfully removed Alureon Trojan from my computer using Windows Defender Offline. Upon reboot, however, Windows 7 would no longer boot up. I have the exact same problem as the one mentioned in this thread:

    http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=253757

I have attached the FRST.txt file from the FRST scan I just completed. I see that other fixes for this specific issue involves writing a script, but that is not something I am do adept at yet and I'd rather not screw things up any worse than they already are now. I would really like to salvage the current windows install and all of my data if at all possible. Any help would be greatly appreciated! :)

If I need to provide any other info, please let me know.

    Welcome to Major Geeks!
Actually it was not successfully removed. It was an incomplete removal which is why you have this problem now. Windows Defender Offline should not be used to fix this malware. It always leads to the PC being unbootable. ;)

Download this >> View attachment fixlist.txt

Save fixlist.txt to your flash drive.
    • You should now have both fixlist.txt and FRST64.exe on your flash drive.
Now reboot back into the System Recovery Options as you did previously.
Run FRST64 and press the Fix button just once and wait.
The tool will make a log on the flashdrive (Fixlog.txt).
Please attach this to your next message. (See how to attach)

Now see if you can boot normal Windows

Thank you for the quick response.

What I should have said was that Windows Defender Offline told me that I successfully removed/clean Alureon Trojan from my system after it found the problem and I chose the remove/clean option. Based on all of the threads that I am finding where others had this problem, I agree with you that this tool does not fix the issue. Makes the situation go from bad to horribly bad. From now on I'll be sure to stop by this site to research my problem first before taking any action should I run into malware in the future.

Let me try this and I will get back with an update soon. :)

    Yes, thank you! :-D

I can boot into Windows now. I have attached the Fixlog.txt file. Anything else I need to do?

You're welcome. If you want to be sure that you have no other infections, it would be a good idea to work thru the below and attach the requested logs for us to look at.
