Windows 8.1 Folder Not Automatically Refreshing

I've got files in the folder sorted by name and ascending, yet when I rename a file, it doesn't automatically position itself alphabetically. I have to manually refresh the folder. How to fix?

 

I always found that it does not automatically position itself, and that refreshing the folder was the way to do it.
Perhaps someone else knows otherwise.

 

Just tested this on my laptop and my desktop, both Win 10 Pro x64. On one it autorefreshes, on the other it does not.

 

Close all windows.

Open Task Manager > Processes.
Select explorer.exe and click End Process.
Click File > New Task (Run...), type explorer.exe and click OK.

You're gonna have to be clearer on what you're asking.

 

Unfortunately, the problem occurred again. I had to again shut down explorer and restart it. What causes this problem? Anything I can do to prevent it other than just shutting down and restarting explorer every time it happens?

 

I have only seen this issue once, and the only fix I know of is to restart Windows Explorer.
There are apparently numerous reasons for this happening and consequently numerous potential fixes.

That is why I asked how the refresh worked, but I seem to be missing a post No 10, too..

Thanks- I had somehow - now got him back- my keyboard is so sensitive- I must have slid across looking for something, and accidently clicked it- I might have to lower sensitivity on it- a new thing with Windows 10 that I had not had before.
