    Hi Guys,

I took the plunge and upgraded my Windows 7 Home Premium to Windows 8 Professional for a mere $14.99 USD taking advantage of Microsofts extremely cheap upgrade offer for customers that bought a brand new PC or Laptop with ANY version of windows 7, And I personally love it to be honest, its very impressed with its look, speed, functionality, literallyeverything, its definitely a really impressive and worthy addition to the Windows Family.

However, I have run into a problem I just cannot seem to fix or find a work around, I bought myself a set of Logitech Z506 Surround Sound Speakers and Subwoofer set, and when I was running windows 7, I managed to have the speaker configuration setup correctly within the control panel, and all 5 speakers working at their potential. however windows 8 pro only registers 2 of the 5 speakers and wont allow me to change it what so ever, so now all my music is very low and annoyingly weak, I have tried so many diffirent tactics trying to fix this dilemma, nut nothing seems to work, does anyone know how to change the speakers PROPERLY within the speaker settings so it uses more than just the 2 speakers on my surround sound system!>>> Any and all help would be really fantastic, its got me ripping my hair out and frustrated for days for the past few weeks, I am an Asus K53E Laptop which has Realtek HD Audio,

    Kindest Regards,

    Dabid!

    Greetings, Luthius...

Don't mean to butt in, Tueur, but I worked on an Asus just the other day. If it hasn't already been done a driver update might be in order (Asus is advising this update for machines that have been upgraded from Win 7 to Win 8).

You'll have to plug in your model at the Asus support site - they use a net session manager for their driver downloads.

I was thinking along the same lines... but,

Most laptops only have a sterio jack out which will mean that you will never get true 5.1 surround...

Some speakers connect via USB which means that there is soundcard built into the speakers... In this case you will get surround sound however the driver to update would be a logitech one rather than realtek. Just trying to establish which driver needs updating. ;)

Always helps to go to the manufacturer website to see what they state. http://logitech-en-amr.custhelp.com...2LzEvdGltZS8xMzU1MzIwMTU3L3NpZC9jRmhvY3pkbA==

"The products marked as analog have either, or a combination of 3.5 mm stereo connectors, Analog RCA, and 6-channel direct inputs. For these devices, Windows 8 OS support depends on proper sound card functionality."

So yep, looks like Windows does not have a driver available for Windows 8 yet, for your sound card. You could try the Windows 7 driver in backwards compatibility. Realtek has the Windows 8 drivers available http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads...=3&GetDown=false#High Definition Audio Codecs

A lot of drivers were removed out of Microsoft's driver database server, so you have to have them on a USB drive when installing, or download them from the website for the manufacturer.
