Hi, I am just setting up a new laptop with Windows 8.1.
I wanted to make text and items larger on the desktop, so went to control panel-display-change the size of all items and made the settings larger. I tried 500% just to see what it was like but it was huge so I tried to make it smaller again using the same method.
Unfortunately the items on screen are now so large that I cannot get everything on-screen despite scrolling and there is no 'apply' button available.
I cannot get the items smaller again.
    Can you help please?

Sorry I didn't give detail of my laptop.
It is a Lenovo Flex 14. running Windows 8.1
It is new and I am just setting it up and loading programmes onto it.
    Thanks Jan

Try starting in safe mode? It usually has a reduced resolution and maybe you can see it well enough.

Thanks for the reply Imandy Mann.
I've just tried in safe mode but it's just the same.
The items on screen are so big that I can't even scroll to get all items in.
I have also tried altering my resolution and even going portrait but to no avail.
Can you or anyone else think of anything else to try?

Are you in "apps" or desktop mode. In desktop mode can you right click and goto 'personalize' May get something in the middle of the screen where you can see it.

I have no idea whether system restore backs up your screen settings but worth a try I think, as you can reverse it if necessary.

I'm in desktop Imandy and have tried personalise but cannot get to the apply key.

Thanks for your input Earthling...as far as i know system restore doesn't change any of your settings but as you say it's worth a try...thanks.

If you can select a mode in personalize and see the hightlighed selection bar you can use 'tab' to make it move to the next selectable area one at a time. It might be the next tab stop or 1 or 2 more. I've stabbed in the dark before and finally hit it

Thanks Imandy and Earthling for your suggestions.
I have been searching through windows help forums etc and found something similar. Apparently, if you can't SEE apply you can hit enter instead. It worked!
    Thanks again, Jan
