Windows 8 Problem

When I go to my pictures and double click a picture to enlarge it,the computer goes back to the start page.Also,when I try to print a picture from my pictures page,the computer will not recognize my printer but gives me a choice of two printers I have never owned.I have deleted the software for my printer and reloaded it with no help to the situation.I can still scan and print with the printer and can print from my Firefox web page online.I can send pictures to Photo bucket from my pictures folder.Also, if I stay on a site for a while,sometimes I get a quick red screen for a second and then it comes back.Am running Windows 8 Pro.Suggestions welcomed.

 

Does your printer appear in Devices and Printers in Control Panel? If not, have you gone through the Add a Printer routine on the same page? One of the 'two printers you have never owned' is probably the Microsoft XPS Document Writer, what is the other?

Can you also confirm that you do mean Win 8 and not 8.1? Helping with 8 can be a problem as near everyone with 8 has upgraded to 8.1 or 10.

 

Yes,I have Windows 8 PRO.Is it possible to switch to windows 8.1 without losing saved files and pictures and my favorites on my home page?I don't have a high geek factor

 

When you upgrade from Windows 8 to 8.1, you'll keep your Windows settings, personal files and most applications. Some applications will have to be re-installed.
