Windows 8 Tile menu... Stuck?

Hi Guys,

I need to impose on you guys once again for an issue I cannot seem to resolve myself within windows 8...

I formatted my Acer Aspire V3-571G because my wife and kids installed so much junk on it, it was just easier to completely reformat, rather than sit their and use IObits Uninstaller to fully uninstall each piece of software, then remove any trace of it and junk files it leaves behind. So I did a nice clean format, installed my legit Windows 8, and then installed all the latest hardware drivers etc, everything working a treat.

However, the Start screen where the software tiles are shown, well, I cannot pin any new programs to that screen, for instance, I installed my Warblade game, then on the desktop icon I right clicked and selected "Pin to Start".... however, it fails to work, I don't get any error, it just wont pin anything to start, no matter what it is, it just wont work.

I have tried everything and I cannot seem to work out why, it has never done this before, ever, and I am not too savvy when it comes to Windows 8, I am still learning myself, but the other issue I have only just found out is, I use the windows shortcut keys a lot, like Windows Key + E to bring up Windows Explorer, and that shortcut works, however, I tried Windows Key and X to bring up the admin options, but that shortcut does not do anything on this machine. Something rather odd is going on.

I have just finished updating every single driver on this laptop, from Chipset, to both video adaptors (Intel HD 4000 + NVidia GeForce GT 640M), etc

Any help would be greatly appreciated, I really don't want to have to sit here and reformat and the re-install everything once again, just to rectify this issue
