Windows Audio Won't Start

How do I repair/replace C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe -k netsvcs? Windows audio won't start in run/services.msc. I get an error message, “"Error 2: The system cannot find the file specified."

In Window’s Audio Properties, C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe -k netsvcs is set as the executable.

My computer has no sound. In audio devices, I cannot select a device -- says, "No Audio Device," but in Device Manager, drivers are there and enabled "working properly."

    Thanks!

Thanks for your attempt to help. However, the start up type is already set to automatic for Windows Audio (and has been).

The issue seems to be with perhaps the executable as stated in my original message because when I try to "start" the service I receive the error message "Error 2: The system cannot find the file specified."

What does your registry look like? specifically HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\Svchost

The only thing I can think of is to do a sfc and have it find the svhost.exe

Please excuse my ignorance, but what do you mean by "The only thing I can think of is to do a sfc and have it find the svhost.exe"?

    "sfc"?

    "svhost.exe" or svchost.exe?

What would I do with this information? Change the executable?

    Thanks!

Sorry, this is not the error I wanted to refer to. My error is with the services application management. Error 126: the specified module could not be found. It should be in :C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe -k netsvcs; but not there and unable to find a download for it. Anysuggestions. :confused:confused

    jerjud, welcome to MajorGeeks.
Please start your own thread. The Major doesn't like hijacking (posting your problem in someone else's thread). It is also poor forum etiquette to revive a very old thread, note this thread is from February 2009!

because you apparently have a software problem, not hardware in windows.
Click the new thread button near the top left. When you post, tell us when the problem started, what, of anything, you did to try and fix it and also what version of windows with service pack is on the computer.
