Windows auto updater

I run windows 7. My pc has been getting slower and slower and 1 by 1 programs will stop working correctly but it dosn't have the signs of a normal virus. I relized my pcs windows updater hasn't been working for 6+ months and may have something to do with this. I tried to manualy update my pc but the windows website wont let me get the updates sayin that my pc should do it automaticly when I try to update my pc with the updater it says it cant because it isn't running I was suggested to turn it off and on again in the services but it isn't in there. I cant seem to find my windows CD to do a fix though any idea?

 

The MS system seems to have totally shut you down Vendarien . I can't think of a single method for retrieving updates for 7 that hasn't been closed to you, but I am sure someone who knows Windows 7 better than I will come along with some help soon enough...

Just a couple of questions...
1. Have you been using a cleaner to clean out temporary internet files? I run CCleaner every night for this usage on a schedule, and I recommend it.
2. Have you been defragmenting your hard drive(s) regularly? Again, I recommend once a day. I do this also in the A.M.

I just leave the system in stand by for these tasks, but you can have them set to run on boot too...

I have not been clearing internet files though defragmenting is something i do often enough i think.
also thanks for the help with the link i will let you know how it works.
