Today while I tried to turn my laptop on, just before I would type in my password to log in I get this error titled Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library.
"This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unsual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information."

Please help. I can not log into my computer and I can't just click through it. It was working fine yesterday after I ran several programs to remove a trojan until now when I tried to start it this morning. I will post a link to the thread to where I had the help removing the trojan to see if maybe there was something deleted that should not have been. Hopefully this is an easy fix. Thanks.

can you do a system restore from safemode
and restore to a point before the actions you took to cause the fault

    I'm thinking....
the action took a needed file inadvertently or there still remains part of the trojin in the system causing the error

at least you can backup your files and then format and reinstall windows all together to rid your system of the virus

the fastest fix would be to boot to safe mode and save or backup your data you want and then format the hard drive and reinstall windows, drivers, and updates.

if you have the windows disk.

dont know what your os is or if you have a recovery partition if that is the case then recover from it and do not format the hard drive it will do that for you.

I have installed a dos partition before the windows partition and created an image on a 3rd recovery partition so if that happens i dont have to spend 3 weeks searching the files for a virius infection or trojan I am one of thoose people who dont like the idea the trojan might still be lingering even though i might have removed the files that make it work.

Yes, I have tried to recover it from my last restore point but upon login I still have the error message. It's running off vista. Like i had mentioned above I had already tried rebooting it in safe mode and restoring it but it came to no success. So, if you have any Other suggestions, that would be nice. I do not have the software to re-format everything. Would I be able to re-boot it in safemode with networking and re-download Windows C++ runtime? May I have just accidently deleted a file or two that belong with it?

In safe mode you can backup data files
you might can fix the issuse from the recovery partition
    "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library"
"This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unsual way"
Any idea of what the application is ?

No, I restored my computer back to what it was before there was a problem and I still have the error messages. I don't know what else I can provide you with because it seems you keep offering the same solution.

    Hello,
In the error message, does it say what application is causing the error?

you can back up your files in "safe mode" you said you could boot to it.

restore didnt work so dont restore while in safe mode backup your files.

then insert the windows dvd and do a clean install.

you dont want to reinstall windows as you feel its an easy problem to fix so ok then dont but you should back up your data while your waitng for a better solution if there is not one then you will at least have the data saved.
