Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. (code 39) -- On XP!

    I too am having this problem, but it is with Windows XP CD ROM LTN526s. I uninstalled the original CD ROM unit and put this one (ltn526s) in and got the same message.

    Hi

    Moved your post to its own thread as the other thread was dealing with Windows Vista and that OS can have different routes to fixing a problem that may not work on yours or cause more issues,


    But what you can try is in Device Manager right click the CDROM and choose Uninstall, then reboot and see if the drivers are picked up. If that doesnt work then follow this How to fix missing DVD/CD drives not showing up in windows explorer (easy options and pre-done registry files are at bottom on page, download, unzip and double click to merge with registry) then reboot.
