windows cannot run .cmd files

    anytime i try to run a .cmd file, windows says it can't find it.

    can someone help me?

    to be more specific:

    for example, if i were to click on a file named "example.cmd", an error window would pop up and say "Windows cannot find 'example.cmd'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again. To search for a file, click the start button, and then click search."
