Windows can't communicate with the device or resource (primary DNS server.)

I restarted my computer last night and when it finished booting I could not connect to the internet.
After running windows trouble shooter I recieved this error:
Windows can't communicate with the device or resource (primary DNS server.)
I still have internet access in Safe Mode w/ networking.

List of things done so far:
1. Different ethernet cable.
2. Different port on Modem. (2wire modem/router.)
3. Ipconfig /release,flushdns,renew
4. Hard boot modem.
5. Updated driver software for broadcom netlink gb adapter.
6. Works in safe mode with networking; disabled all non windows processes in MSconfig and still can't log on.
7. No new programs installed aside from Guild Wars 2 in the last 72 hours.
8. McAffe antivirus. Toggled firewall without result.
9. Tried manual setting static ip/dns settings. Tricks windows into thinking there is a problem with the modem instead of a DNS error but can't get online.
10. No proxy set.
11.Ipv4 and v6 protocols set to obtain ip and dns settings automatically.

I can't think of anything else to do so I'm posting this here hoping someone
with more knowledge than me can help.

I had exactly the same problem and uninstalling McAfee was the solution. Disabling McAfee did not help but uninstalling the whole SW helped. Apparently there is something wrong in the update that came out the other day. Hopefully they'll provide a fix soon for McAfee..
