If we know what it is that you are looking for ....are you trying to decide what os to install ....because all the systems going up through xp pro are slight improvements of the previous versions ....so up to now, pre-vista, xp is the stablest and user friendly to date.

well, I have a Dell Dimension with a 20GB HD which is almost half-full, so I'm wondering if 2000 is the better way to go, especially since, if I installed XP I would probably want dual boot and I'm not sure about the memory issues

XP also seems to be a little "big brother"-ish to me (which is why I don't use AOL anymore - seems just a little bit too intrusive)

How much memory do you have ...win 2000 is the platform that xp is built from ...but without drivers and other user-friendly items ....so it takes a little more to get it to function with specific needs ...have you thought about an external drive to move stuff to so that you can free up what you have?
