Running Win XP Pro on one of my pc's, and it's been crashing real often, (several times a day) Get bsod's with errors ranging from 0x0A - 0x50 - 0x7e - 0x20 - 0x8a Been thru my software, checked hardware drivers, switched memory, installed another hard drive and copied my old drive to it. I have run chkdsk and it fixes any errors it finds. even ran chkdsk from a different Windows cd. Sometimes it takes several tries to boot to Windows and I have ran fixboot from 2 different Win cd's. Have a current A/V, (ESET smart security). Checked for malware using several different scanners. Everything comes up roses. Running a MSI K9A2 Platinum board and have updated the BIOS 3 times and that seems to keep it stable for awhile, (4 - 6 days). I'm going to switch the board to an ASUS m4a79 deluxe just to see what happens. If that doesn't work, I guess I'll format and reinstall Windows from scratch, unless anyone has any better ideas ?

Something I forgot to add. I have system restore turned on, and there are no restore points, I can't even go to any other month to check except April 2009. This build has been up for a year now.
Let me see, where did I put that Linux cd........

i was going to suggest system restore,,,but if you don,t have any restore points....you are out of luck

from what you are telling us, i would just reformat and install the operationg system...and then see if it works without any of the software,,,if everything is ok, then you know some software or corrupt windows files is the problem:confused

Yea, I'm thinking Windows is corrupt, what's confusing is that when i've done bios updates it would stay running a little longer. I'd get a few days, just long enough to fool me into thinking it was fixed.

Yes, what plodr said ... also just running chkdsk wont do much, you need to insert your original XP disk access CMD from there and run chkdsk /r

I have run chkdsk /r from 2 different win XP Pro cd's. I have not run sfc scan now. Will do,and see what happens.
    Thanks

Just finished sfc /scannow. I also tried to use debugging tools to check my mini dump file, and it gets as far as: executable search path. At the bottom of the window it says "debuggee not found"

Ignore my last idiotic post. I just needed to give it longer than the 30 minutes that I had waited.
    It's reporting a pool corruption
