Windows Defender Or Stinger

    Hi,
    Have downloaded Windows Defender as recommender for protection in your very good tutorial, and it is satisfactory. Now I have Stinger 260.exe. It does not seeme to be conflicting so far and there is plenty of space on Drive. Should i uninstall it or not . Would be grateful for advice. TY. I really think you" geeks" are great here.     I'm not exactly sure what you are talking about uninstalling. And what is Stinger 260.exe and what does it have to do with Windows Defender. Are you referring to McAfee Avert Stinger? If so, Singer is an on demand very specific antivirus application that provides no active protection and it is not an antispyware tool with realtime blocking.

    Hi,
    TU for replying. I have McAfee Virus Scan. So does this mean that I have 2 AntiVirus Applications, which as you know is not recommended. TY

    No if the Stinger you are refering to is this one http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4063 ( but I have not noticed the Stinger260.exe file before, unless its an older version as latest it named Stinger3.exe as linked to above ) you can run this along side your McAfee VirusScan program as Stinger is on demand scanner and scans for specific malware whereas McAfee virusscan is a resident/background virus scanner.

    What you cannot do is to run two resident/background scanning virus scanners, which I think you knew anyway eg. you couldnt sucessfully run Norton & McAfee or McAfee & Avast etc

    So you can run or have installed all of the below as they as far as I know do not conflict ( I have in the past run the three programs listed with no issues )
    McAfee
    Defender
    Stinger
