    is it going to jack up my pc if i run windows defender and spybot on it? just wondering if there is a need for both of them or if having them both will screw something up.

    AS both are resident live scanning I would choose one or the other, or you can use Spybot with Defender is you disable the live scanning tool called Teatimer in Spybot.
