Windows downgrade Asus Notebook UL30a Question

Hi,

I am looking to downgrade from windows 7 to windows xp. I have downloaded the relevant xp drivers and have an xp disc and service pack 3. I was wondering if I have to do any thing other than instal xp as I would normally.

I remember trying to downgrade from vista to xp on a an old laptop and having a driver issue preventing xp from installing. I also seem to remember seeing an article stating windows had a way of preventing downgrading.

Any help and advice appreciated before I begin this process

You shouldn't have any 'downgrade' problems, especially if you boot to the XP disk, delete and re-create the Windows partition, format the partition ('Full format' is preferable), and then install a fresh Windows XP. You will, of course, have to activate the new XP installation via contact with Microsoft within 30 days.

If you have the drivers and the XP disk with a good legal serial, you should be fine. The last time I downgraded a laptop from Vista to XP drivers were an issue. I had to slipstream sata drivers into the install for example. The drivers were an issue because for some components there was no XP driver provided by the OEM, HP. It can be a long search...
