i have been burning dvds with windows7's dvd maker but the sharpness is way too much, causing glaring outlines on everything. does anyone know why this is happening? i'm presently trying to burn an .avi WITHOUT the filter, burn rate on SLOW. from the options area, there is no way to adjust the sharpness level. regardless of the type of files being converted, the final output mpg always has the overly sharp level problem. ANY help would be massively appreciated.
    thanks,

The problem is not with windows DVD maker, it just uses the video it is supplied with. The problem is the source video. It is too low quality to be resized to DVD size without introducing these artifacts you are seeing. The only solution is to get better quality source material.

There are video editing programs that can improve the quality of the source video up to a point. While I haven't done this personally, there are plugins for the free Virtual Dub video editor that can help you improve the source videos. Again, I haven't used this either, but maybe ZS4 will work for you also (ZS4 is also free). Of course, there are programs like Adobe Premier and Sony Vegas, but these are VERY expensive.....
