Windows Event Log Event ID 126

My system was randomly rebooting so I searched the web for some information. One of the sites suggested checking the Event Log, so I did so. And what I found was shocking. Every 5-6 seconds that the computer is on the same event happens. Here's the info:

I tried to search for information on it specifically, and found nothing. I updated the driver using their website. I have a Marvell Yukon 88E8039 PCI-E Fast Ethernet Controller. I'm running Vista Home version, upgraded to SP2. I'm not sure when the event started happening. Today, the earliest entry I have was on 3/27/10 at 2:29:18 pm, but it has been deleting events. It caps around 53,700 occurances of this event, and then starts deleting the old ones.

I'm rather good with computers, but this is way beyond my understanding. I'm definately more of a software person than hardware. Any help would be appreciated. If you need more info, just ask, and I'll provide. Thanks.

 

Have you tried uninstalling/reinstalling the Ethernet port/drivers?

Also, you say it reboots randomly, does it usally happen soon after boot or does it sometimes go for hours with no issues?

Can you run it in Safe Mode without issues? (obviously if your random restarts can happen hours later this is tricky)

Are there any similarities when it happens in the things you are using/doing?
Example: Browsing the web, using certain progs that may require internet access etc
If you can borrow or have a PCI ethernet card you could try that.

 

Tried reinstalling the drivers. The similiarities...well, we're pretty much always doing the same things. We have Firefox open with several tabs, and World of Warcraft running. Sometimes MSN Messenger is running.

The reboots are completely random as far as I can tell. We leave the computer running for awhile at a time though. There is a problem with shut downs because of a bad connection in the battery, but the shut downs I'm talking about are completely unrelated. When it happens because of the battery, the battery has died because the cord came unplugged and so the computer dies.

The reboot that we have a problem with occurs with full power. Not sure if it would happen in safe mode, it doesn't happen soon after it's been turned on, so I'm not sure how I would test it in safe mode. I opened the event log after I turned it back on after this last reboot, and the only error was the typical this shutdown was unexpected. Here's the log:

We get major lag on the computer pretty much anytime we switch windows or try to load things. I think that the lag is linked to the previous log problems I described, the event happening every 5-6 seconds. Not sure if the random shutdowns are related to that.
