Windows Explorer Annoyance

Hello MajorGeeks.
I am running windows XP Pro Media Center Edition
SP3 IE8 (recently updated to this)..
and heres my problem..
In windows explorer i have the view set to details mode with details for my music enabled (file type, bitrate,duration,artist,album,year and track number)
i do a lot of media files editing and require viewing such stats at a quick glance.
i have this setup set to all folders..
recently as i said i have updated to SP3 and IE8 2 days ago......however my problem didnt occur until today. I don't think the update is causing this.

My music files (mp3's) all contain correct id tags ID3V2 (i am very meticulous about this) and all information is contained within the file...however in Windows Explorer in Details view most of the tags either do not show or get garbled ..ie, all the track #'s have reverted to 0.
hitting F5 changes several tags back and forth.....the year goes blank then comes back....same with the album title.

I've tried switching views to icons....thumbnails and back and have reset folder views back to default to no avail.....the problem persist.
if anyone can help with this minor but most annoying inconvenience i would be most appreciative.

i think i figured it out
after updating to sp3 the wmvcore.dll, version 11.0.5705.5043 began to fault,
i simply rolled back the Windows Media Format 11 Runtime (i dont know if thats wise but i didnt have media player installed anyway),
this rolled the wmvcore.dll back to version 10.0.0.4357.
and now all the tags properties list in windows explorer properly.
