Everytime that I open a program off of the desktop or the start menue I get an error message. It says that Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. I have a choice to send an error report or don't send. When I click don't send, the desktop reloads. My Computer and Control Pannel are the only things that seem to work. I can open any program through My Computer. I ran AVG, Spybot S&D, Adaware, Microsoft Antispyware, and Bazooka. All of them found nothing. I only noticed this problem since Wed. evening when I came home from school. Any help would be appreciated.

Is that the full error message Ben, or is their anything else said, liek error number/code etc?

you could also check the Event Viewer for more info on the crash, goto Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Event Viewer, errors will generally be in thr System or Application logs, do what you need to get it to crash and then go look in the logs for info.

you could also do 2 other things if you wished, but its well worth backing up any and all important documents/files/favorites folder etc

    1. Use System Restore to go back to last restore point.
    2. goto Start > Run and type sfc /scannow then hit enter and the system checker will try and locate and fix and faulting files in XP
