Windows explorer has stopped working

Hey all so today when I booted up my comp after the login screen only the wallpaper showed and the little circle kept loading for 20seconds and then finally I got an error "windows explorer has stopped working" so I then chose the option to retsart windows explorer then after 5 seconds the taskbar and icons on the desktop showed then everything worked fine.

This is the first time this has happened to me. The only recent items that I have installed are nvidia beta drivers for bf3 and battlefield 3.

I am running windows 7 64-bit if it matters any ideas what might have caused this?

Didyou click to send error report ? I often find there are answers from microsoft, although just as often they give no answer to an available fix.
Have you tried manually restarting explorer.exe from the task manager (control + alt+ delete butons bring it up) then click the new task button, and type in explorer.exe , and click o.k

 

"Beta drivers" might be an issue, but as explorer did start after all was said and done, not to much of an issue it appears...
