Windows Explorer in a friend’s Windows 7 desktop shows icons, but not thumbnails.

    • My online research said to click on Window 7’s Windows Explorer’s View dropdown menu. But while the View dropdown menu is visible in my Windows 10 Windows Explorer, it is not visible in my friend’s Windows 7 Windows Explorer. Any suggestions?

    • Maybe my friend’s image files simply don’t have thumbnails. It’s simple enough to make a thumbnail-sized version of an image, but how to ‘attach’ it to the larger image as a true thumbnail? Could this be related to the larger image files’ metadata?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Try Control Panel > Folder Options
view > uncheck: Always show icons, never thumbnails

Hi, _nullptr, thanks for the tip.

    Unfortunately, it didn’t work.

For what it’s worth, however, if a folder is on the desktop, it does show thumbnails, rather than icons, and it did so even before I followed your advice:

Control Panel > Folder Options > view > uncheck: Always show icons, never thumbnails

    I don’t get it.
