windows explorer

I have read other threads and don't feel they quite match my problem

Whenever i run a program that uses files on my external hard drive, after a while, whatever the program is will crash. If I am using windows media player for example, it will just come up with 'Windows Media Player has experienced a problem and needs to close..' The two main programs I use which get this problem are windows explorer if i am searching through the files and Windows Media Player

It is starting to cause me severe frustration since my music is a central part of my life.

I downloaded and ran hijackthis but the log didn't make much sense to me, I did glance at the thread of HJT tutorial but it confused me because no N entries were in my log even though I use Mozilla Firefox 3

I have XP Pro SP3

Please help me

please use the CLICK HERE and post more of the message. The problem you post is a generic message (with plenty of error messages) and we need the rest of the error message to be any help.

 

Is there any errors in the event log that matches the time of the crashes?

To check this, do the following the next time you experience this problem:
Start->Run->"eventvwr.msc"
Check the "Application" and "System" logs.
If you find entries with Level=Error and a timestamp that matches the crash, post the information in the error message(s) here.

Feel free to post your HJT log as well, but I doubt it will give us the answer.

 

I don't know if the last post has gone up or not, which contains error message stuff plus my hjt log

I am honestly at the end of my tether, tonight, media player doesn't last 5mins, windows live doesn't last 1min..but its strange because the message comes up saying windows live needs to close yet it will carry on working until i press send error report or don't send

I notice in your HJT log by glancing at it that you have a Wareout infection. I would recommend your starting a thread in the Malware Removal forum.
