Just replaced my hard drive after last one froze and died. On trying to install Windows Vista into the new one I keep getting the message "windows failed to load because the system registry file is missing or corrupt". It tells me to restart with my windows disk and repair but it won't let me. Keeps going to the same message. Going round in circles can anyone help?

Thanks. Not sure if that will work for Vista but will try it. How do I know if I am using OEM. Have nothing loaded as it all went pear shaped when I put in the new hard drive.

OEM is just the disc it's what companies like Dell use to install the OS. Retail is the disc, manual, warranty etc what most system builders use.
