windows failed to start up

hi,
my pc was working fine a few hours ago, when i turn it on now it says "windows failed to start a recent hardware or software change may be the cause". i havent changed anything. the screen then gives me 2 options " launch startup repair" and "start windows normally". when i chose to start normally i end up on this screen again. when i chose launch startup repair the computer freezes up. i dont know alot about computers and unfortunetly i cant get to the screen where i would usually go and find the specs on my system, i know its a dell inspiron running windows 7. if you need more info just please let me know where i can find it for you. will be greatful for any help you can give.

 

ok just tried that, it goes to the starting windows screen for 30 seconds or so then it looks like my computer restarts and im back at the "windows failed to startup" screen

 

ok problem seems to be unmountable boot volume, i have no idea what that means but it doesnt sound good, any fix for this that i can do on my own?
