Windows Flip 3d

System

Windows Vista Ultimate
AMD Athlon 64 x2 3800+
3GB Ram
Radeon x850 (256MB I believe, PCI-E)

Windows flip does not appear to be working. When I alt+tab it brings up a screen similar to windows xp only a bit "prettier". The only other aspect of Aero I know about is the thumbnail display when you mouse-over a tab in your taskbar. That feature is working properly. Is it that my video card isn't compatible? I have the latest ATI driver for it downloaded directly from ATI site. I do not have Catalyst control center only because when I tried to download and install it I never could get it to load. I wiped all ati software and drivers. Re-downloaded the driver only and was good to go. Didn't have any problems but didn't want CCC left on there if it wasn't working right. No other existing problems that I can tell. Run several graphic/hardware intensive games flawlessly, great 3DMark scores (considering hardware).

Any ideas would be much appreciated. Thanks guys.

 

Have you run the Vista rating program since you updated the drivers? This determines which Aero features are available.

EDIT: Alt-TAB will only bring up the XP style interface, you have to click the taskbar button to get the flip 3D working.

 

Temporary blonde syndrome. I have the logitech G11 keyboard and it has a windows or game mode key. Game mode disables a lot of windows shortcuts....hence why I couldn't bring up flip. Working like a charm now. Thanks for the reply though. :-o
