Windows Installer Cleanup utility

Hi, Ive been told in another forum to run Windows Installer Cleanup Utility to remove a Windows problem. Every time I open Word I get the attached file. As I cant find the download in Major Geeks download page, can anyone point me to the correct site. Thanks:wave

You can also get it from Microsoft here http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301 but I am curious if you received this advice in another forum you had a thread going in, why didn't you just ask them?

 

They told me it was on the right side of your home page but I couldn't find it. the only trace of it took me to a registry cleaner which isn't what I wanted. As I am from the botom of the world I wondered if I was looking on the wrong side of the page lol

Hi I have just installed it then get:

 

Try this:

Click Start > Run and type:

regsvr32 scrrun.dll

Press enter. If it is not successful let me know the message that pops up. If it is successful then re-try the installation of the Installer application.

 

ok did that and got the following file. Then tried to run the file but still got the error message

 

ok...looks like you need to reinstall the Windows Script engine, which you can do from the Microsoft site.

Click on the link here http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...FamilyID=C717D943-7E4B-4622-86EB-95A22B832CAA and then click on the word "Continue - Validation required".

This will take you to the Windows Genuine installation plug-in download. Click "Download Plug-in", follow the instructions and when your copy of Windows is validated it should automatically take you to the Windows Script download. Long winded, I know, but Microsoft have put measures in place to ensure downloads are given only to those with legal software.
