Just got a new pop up I've never seen before. It states that an update which could take upwards of 90 minutes to install is ready. Even has a thirty minute countdown.

    This is legit, right?

Does TaskMan show you which Process owns it?

Apparently, it was legit. The machine restarted early this morning. At 5 AM. At FULL VOLUME over my speakers. When I fell asleep watching Hulu, they were at 12%.

The update also took out Crimson trashing the VSR settings, and my desktop icons were all over the place.

It will take almost an hour to straighten out the mess once I'm done putting my desktop back to "as was"...

How do you know it was legit? I haven't seen it on any of four Win 10s. What's the KB number?

Perhaps it was the anniversary update to Windows 10?

That's what it reads like, when I 'upgraded' my alt. PC as a test on AU Release day, that hit me, too. The driver dates were the same (!?) but I had to do another install to get it fixed.

Like W10 removing CCleaner and 3rd party start menu software etc., it feels like it only looks at Startup entries and disables them randomly.

Well I guess that's what it must be but it was released August 2 - wonder where it has been in the meantime

The AU has been changed a lot since I installed it, I'd have thought that the current version wouldn't rip out the latest WHQL video driver, but hey - it's MS...

    Looks like KB3176935 and KB3176937.

And, there are a bucketload of updates (37) to my venerable install Microsoft Office 2007. That includes SP3 for MS Office 2007.

I received a Cumulative Update for version 1607 this evening while syncing some items with Google Drive. This was all done in the background. I got a pop-up about restarting to complete the update. I still haven't restarted because I haven't finished the sync and gotten the shareable links to give someone.

Hmm, so it's still high maintenance and disruptive, eh? A great OS for desktop PC's.

The update I got was KB3194496.

That should bring everybody up to build 14393.222. No problems to report for me.

Same here, problem free (4 systems)

I Updated Windows 10 to version 1607 last night. It took almost two hours but seemed to of been no issues. I shut everything down and this morning things are running very slow no matter which browser I try. Also getting a lot of not responding messages. Ugggg!:( Typing this reply is a challenge because of unresponsiveness.

I said in another thread about issues with Win 10 Anniversary Update that not all equipment is forward compatible. You may need to roll back to 1511, 10586.585.

Yeah thanks. If a little tweaking does not improve the performance I will do that as time allows. Good thing my work computer is still Win7 and performs great.

I have a custom system. Aggravating though it is, it seems I should go with the flow.

I mean, heck, I'm hopefully talented enough to deal with it...

Not sure what was causing everything to run so slow after update so I turned off every app I don't use that was running in the background including Edge and things have got a lot faster. I did find that after the update almost every app was set to run in the background. Some I will never use and I had previously turned off. Anyway so far so good.
    Good luck mekanic.

Try DesktopOK - problem solved. :)

It's portable, no install. I use 32-bit with 64-bit OS - works fine.
Settings are saved in DesktopOK.ini file, so you can backup your layout elsewhere.
Eliminates a lot of aggravation.

Or, you could just copy the file to a backup drive.

After the last debacle, I did just that...
