Windows Live Movie Maker Help - Syncing Audio?

The problem: Friends visited me and dubbed vocals over my singing on an mp3 I recorded prior to a severe stroke that left me paralyzed and mute. It was video recorded in .avi but the intro was missing. I want to add the entire mp3 the the video but, apparently MS is no longer supporting WLMM, so user info is very scarce.

Does anyone know how to sync the audio?

    Eldon?

I can attach the .avi AND .mp3 if anyone wants to experiment.

    TIA

    Don

Add the avi and mp3 files to a zip archive and upload it.

    Eldon,

How did I know that you'd be first to dive with help!?

This is my pre-stroke cover of Gordon Lightfoot's "Steel Rail Blues". You'll notice that the intro is missing and, therefore, the song starts very abruptly. I want it to sync with the singer's lips. I haven't figured out how to dub the mp3 over the audio track in the .avi
and slide it to the left on the timeline. In fact, I haven't been able to move ANYTHING to the left of zero (0). Is it even doable?

I've promised participants a copy of the entire show and I'm stuck on the very first scene!

    Thanks, my amigo.

    Don

Unfortunately I can't download the avi file. Just before my modem problems I did download Windows Essentials Movie Maker. If the video and audio files are the same lenght, you can easily replaced the video's sound with the mp3 audio.

The intro on the mp3 was chopped off making the song in the video start too abruptly. The "Irish Plumber's" very obvious solution would be to either drag the video a few seconds the the right on the timeline, OR drag the mp3 to the left of "0" if that's even possible. Right now the audio is about 4-5 seconds late (if I'm making myself clear).

Don, sorry for the late reply.
I have finally downloaded the video and audio files.
But we have a problem. The audio stream in the video isn't recognised by Windows because it's MP1. Windows Live Movie Maker doesn't even show the audio stream.

The video's soundtrack is ±10 seconds long versus the MP3's lenght of ±3 seconds.
I saved the video's sound as an MP3 file using WinX HD Video Converter Deluxe, then using Adobe Audition I silenced the first 3 seconds, normalised the volume, and used the mixdown feature to combine the two sound files.
Then I used Windows Live Movie Maker to add the new sound file to the video - WLMM ignored the video's sound because it's MP1.
