I am in the process of moving up to Windows 2000 from my Win Me O/S and would like to know what things I should consider before this step?

I have also backed up my system a few days ago and everything else is running fine.

My system specs are as follows:

    O/S: Windows ME
    Processor: AMD K7
    Memory: 256MB
    HD: 12.7 GB
Free space: 7.09 GB Free space

I have also checked on Microsoft's site and it looks like my system is okey.

    Thoughts??? Suggestions?

    Thanks

Hi ya Techiegirl2!! I just recently upgraded to Win2000 Pro from Win98SE and, in my personal opinion, that is one smart move you're making. ;) Since upgrading I have had NO problems whatsoever with Win2000, other than the mistakes one makes learning a new OS. It is a very stable and 'durable' OS and one that I think you'll be happy with. My only gripe with Win2000 is that I can't play any of my old DOS games with it, except for "Duke3D" but with the help of Jonos Port that isn't a problem anymore. One things for sure, you can kiss that dreaded BSOD goodbye. Actually, the only BSOD I've ever heard of with Win2000 was caused by hardware failure....NOT OS failure.
Now, I'll probably catch some flak for this next remark, but Win2000 is less of a resource hog than WinXP and does not have all the 'fluff' of XP. With your system specs, that should be a plus for you. However, going to 512 megs of RAM would most assuredly be a bonus, if you can afford it.
Goodluck with Win2000. Granted, it is an older OS, but it's still a damn good one!!!!!!!!!
