windows ME to XP

ok this is kind of hardware but not. i have a harddrive with windows ME on it. the pc it was attached to died, but the harddrive still works. i hooked it up to a windows 98SE mahine and could read the drive. i need to hook it up with my xp machine as thats the new 1. i have tried it and it just comes up blank. i was thinking maybe htere is some trick to maye some software out there to help do it?

XP can read your ME drive. Check all your settings Master/Slave. Make sure that all the cables and power hooked up and tight.

What do you mean? Do you see the drive letter in Explorer but nothing is on the drive?

 

can see a drive letter, the content of the drive is blank, ask's to format the drive. i know for a fact it is not clean.

 

Just thinking out loud here but was the drive partitioned with any software that is not compatible with XP?
I have a WinME / XP dual boot system in the basement and XP can read the ME files.

Go through this and find out what the partition table type is from the command line.
