When trying to install an ethernet card (D-Link DGE-530T) in my brother's dell pc, the system complains about a missing sys file (ine100v5.sys). I do not see this file on the "re-installation" disk from Dell. Will I have to find an original WinME disk??

    Thanks,

    Mike

When it complains about the missing file, point it to C:\Win9x (or try the CDdrive:\Win9x) and it should find the file there. If it doesn't, use Windows search and search the Win9x folder for lne100v5.* and if it finds it, write down exactly where it is so you can point the hardware wizard to the file.

(BTW- it's a lower case "L" and not an "i" as in "LNE" and not "ine")

EDIT- upon doing more research, I think LNE100v5 is a driver for file for a completely different network adapter; it's for a Linksys LNE100TX. This would explain just about everything. You can download the correct driver from the DLink web site. Use the Windows XP driver, it works with Win98/ME/2000/XP.
