Windows media Player 10

I brought over some music to my sisters house last nite. I copied the files over to her HD and then we tried to play them thru Windows Media Player Version 10. We couldn't find the files anyplace on her computer. I found them in the users/owner /music directory and they were showing in their. But I couldn't get them added to show thru Windows Media Player. I never used windows media player to play any music i have. DO i have to add these to the library and if so how.

 

I'm not absolutely sure but I believe you do need to add them to a Library. To do this, maximize Media Player. You should see a menu at top that displays File | View | Play | Tools | Help. Click on File, then on Add to Library, and proceed.

 

I am by no way saying that you don't know how to do this, but from the way you say you copied the files to the hard disk, you didn't specify how you did it, did you use a program, like windows media player, to rip the files to mp3 or wma?

 

They were already mp3 files that i copied from my flash drive to the hard drive

 

Well, eventually they have to wind up in my music for things to work the way you want.
If you find them, try moving to my documents then to my music.

 

you should be able to just select them in explorer, and drag then drop in windows media player, then they will be added to the library....keep in mind, that you have to be logged in as that user, if you are logged into a different user, you might not be able to access them, and each user will have a different library. what happens when you just double-click to play them? if wmp is the default player, it should play them, and add them to the library at the same time.
