Good evening Geeks, I am running XP Home SP3,
and WMP 11 opens for about 1 second then closes. I've just completed a clean install, deleted both WMP and the Runtime app and re-installed, but the same thing happens. I uninstalled another video player I was using and that did not help. I uninstalled K-lite codec pack and that did not help.

Any ideas on how to get it to work. I was thinking inserting the WP disc and running repair or scannow.

Problem Solved. Thanks I did run FixIt but that didn't help either. I Googled "Repair WMP11 on XP" and was surfing through the finds and came across one that said WMP might crash if you have a flash drive installed! I did, so I removed it, restarted, and WMP works fine. Not sure I understand this at all, but the good news is that now I know I have a clean install of WMP, even if I didn't need it.
