Windows Media Player 9 updates

I have Windows Meda 9 [version 9.00.00.4510] on Windows XP. Clicking the tab "Help/Update", a dialog box states that an update is available which can be obtained by clicking "Next". But there is no information about what exactly is in the update. I do not want to install an update with content that I do not want. If I click "next", I do not know if I will be able to cancel the process before the installation occurs (I have seen this happen with certain other software programs). When the Microsoft Update webpage scans my computer re.: high-priority and optional updates, there are none listed for WMP. Therefore, can someone EITHER (1) assure me that I can prevent the installation after clicking 'next" OR (2) refer me to a webpage at Microsoft where I can read about and choose updates manually. My search of the Microsoft website has failed. Thanks.

 

It will install WMP 11 if you follow through with it. This should also appear on WU/MU under Software, Optional (unless you have previously hidden it)

 

To "Captacha, private first class": Thanks very much!!! You have saved me from a fate which is actually worse than I had imagined. This so-called update is really an upgrade. You are also correct that the Microsoft Update scanning process lists WMP 11. This is not an update (as is the intention of this Update service) but is apparently the whole version 11 software. Again another sad example of how some software companies do not respect a user's right to NOT have the latest version of software.
