Windows Media Player & RealPlayer

I have both installed. Do I need both? Which is more versatile/useful/best to have?

At home before almost everybody got a computer, I used to have every player for every taste, now I prefer using WMP for sound that suits my ripping and play taste. Video I use other.

 

I hate having duplicate programs filling my computer, so I guess RealPlayer is for the boot.

 

There you go!!! Just make it the default and everytime you want to play something will open automatically.

 

I disagree about having just one. I may need to be educated here, but one media player can't play all formats of media files. I have on several occasions had media files that couldn't be played by Windows Media Player(these were files taken from the internet in random formats). I have also had issues playing files on RealPlayer with burned DVDs.

I will tell you my combo mix.........
Windows Media Player
KMplayer(FreeWare on MG)
VLC Media Player(FreeWare on MG)


I just cycle through these and I have never had one that didn't play on at least one of these.

 

One of the reasons I asked is because Real Player has given me some trouble.

Thanks for your suggestions, Brahman. I'll download those from MG and boot out Real Player.

 

I use K-Lite (Full) and VLC. Both are excellent. Plays all formats.

Both Comodo and IObit complained about KMplayer that Brahman suggested, so I didn't install it. I've used VLC before and I think it's an excellent program.

I'll take a look at K-Lite.
