Windows Media Player Says I need DVD Decoder

I'm a beginner I'm lost may I ask a question?
Suddenly my Windows Media Player Says I need DVD Decoder in order to play a factory made DVD & want to sell
me one!Are there freeee ones Avail? Also,I Keep getting The Autoplay "search" Message,Whats up with that?
Any Ideas?

Hi

Moved your question to its own thread as it is different to the other one and wouldnt wish you to get confused with the variosu replies that may not help you.

But to your question, you'll need whats called a codec to play various media files, and by default WMP doesnt come with one but you can get free ones here in this package ~ Vista Codec Package (dont worry about the name as it works for XP and Vista)

Do also tell us what Windows version and Windows Media Player version you are using, just in case we need to try something else.

The above codec pack is great, and works with WinXP too so don't let the name "Vista Codec Pack" throw you... however, if you just need a DVD decoder without all the extra codecs (some folks are wary of codecs), take a look at this thread. It has a couple of links for a free DVD decoder that works perfect with Windows Media Player.
