Windows Media Player

How can I clean up my WMP without deleting the files I want to keep? When I pull up my library it is filled with duplicates and renamed(by WMP) files. I tried deleting some of them but then could not access the files I want. Any ideas?

There is a tab, left of Search Window, View Details, u will get an alpha list, then right click song, choose delete from library or delete from library n my computer.

or you can highlight and use the Shift n Down Arrow to do multiple files

or you can open the file location, i.e.

C:\Documents and Settings\"user name"\My Documents\My Music, and delete them there

Media Player will do a clean up afterwords.

 

I am working with WMP10. I had to many conflicts with wmp 11 so I reverted back to 10. There is nothing to the left of the search window. Is that function available?

To delete a file, album, or artist, simply click the item in your library, and then press the DELETE key. You will be prompted to choose one of the following options:

• Delete from library only

• Delete from library and my computer


Note that if you if you choose Delete from library and my computer and also select the check box Don't show me this message again, the Player will remember your choice. The next time you delete an entry from your library, it will also be deleted from your computer.
