windows media player

hey people,

Hoping somone out there can help me with some playback issues. a couple of times now i have downloaded some video files via utorrent that my computer recognises as avi's, but they have no screenshot and my player wont play them back.
i have tried a few different codecs (with no luck) and 2 or 3 compression identification programs of this site, all which say the file is unknown or wont even let me open it.

can anyone recomend any sollutions, or am i just unlucky with downloading bogus video?

by the way, i use vista premium if its any help.

Of the codecs you have, do you have the Vista codecs?

i used the vista codec pack from sharks. i uninstalled it, tries a few others, didint work. i did find the shark pack had a better range of playback over the others i found.
if there is no sollution to my problem, is there a better way than p2p sharing that still has a broard search basis?

i tried it with different versions of media player with not luck. is there a better way than p2p sharing and still being able to get a hold of new material?

Go to Videohelp.com for a codec solution. I don't believe any will solve your problem thu. What is the file extention type?
