windows media player

    ime trying to get media player to run avi files there selected in the playlist ive tryed 9.0 and 10 but had no luck with them eney idea wots going wrong

    Its my understanding that the codec for avi files is no longer supplied by Microsoft because they don't own the rights to it. You can get the codec in a codec pack on the MajorGeeks web site in the Multimedia directory. There are a couple of them. You can select which codecs you want to install.

    shnerdly is right. You would need the DivX codec to play avis in Windows Media Player.

    However, I MUST recommend VLC Media Player. It has EVERY codec you could ever need built in. It has played EVERY video file I've ever come across. Plus, it doesn't take up much space on your system, and its open source. With this, you'd never have a problem playing video again.
