windows media player

I had Windows millenium and upgraded to windows xp home. I also, downloaded windows media player 10 but it isn't working correctly. Would it be over my head to remove the program and then download it again? Would this be the step to take if it isn't working correctly. My problem is: When I try to copy from an MP 3 cd to another cd in audio format not of the icons are available to me. They are all shaded. If I do get it to work I receive the message that the file is being inspected. Media player 9 worked OK. Also, I only have one cd burner. Please advise.

I installed sp2 back when it first came out. I have it on CD. I originally had Roxio Easy and then switched to Nero. Don't use Nero because it doesn't work with my mp3's. I wanted to use Windows media because it worked well on other computers that I tried. Only difference is I only have one burner.

 

Here's a CD writer that I personally like. It's called CD BurnerXP Pro. I'll refrain from posting a link unless requested.

 

If I remove media player 10 where do I get media player9 and how do I install it. Normally? Someone told me being it is a window program I will have a lot of trouble getting it to work. I will have to remove and reload windows xp?????
