Windows media problem

    My Windows Media Player (not sure which version but i think its the newest one) will play videos but they are jumpy. Its like im in an online game and its lagging!

    Can someone help me with this?

    Hi

    Click Help > About Windows Media Player to get version.


    What type of videos are you playing are they from Retail DVDs or from AVIs/DivX and do all play with a lag or jumpy? do try a retail bought DVD to see if its an issue with WMP itself of the type of media played.

    Do you have any other applications open and running at same time as they maybe using the majority of your CPU and causing WMP to not buffer up the video quick enough for smooth playback.

    Thanks Halo.

    Its version 11.
    And the file type is normally either avi or mpeg, and i do normally have the internet running along with iTunes.

    Hi

    Try closing any other applications down to see if one of them is causing the slow playback, also do you have Ad-Aware and its AdWatch, if so disable AdWatch as I read that this can cause jerky slow playback in WMP.

    Do normal DVD Films cause the same issue?

    Have you updated your graphic card drivers reciently?

    I just updated my graphic card driver and it seems to have made the videos run smoothly, i tried some videos i was having trouble with and some dvd's. And they are all running smoothly now.
