    Hello,

This is the error message that I receive when trying to view a dvd with Windows Media Player Version 11.0.5721.5280

"Windows Media Player cannot play the dvd because a compatible dvd decoder is not installed on your computer".

My OS: XP Pro 2002 Service Pack 3

    Your assistance is greatly appreciated.

    Thank you in advance.

This is a simple problem to solve. You are missing what is called a codec, and need to install what is called a codec pack.

The best codec pack around is K-lite Codec pack - full install. You can DL it and install it from here:
    http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/k_lite_codec_pack_full.html

Just follow the defaults when you install, and be sure to deselect any toolbars or search engines that might try to install along with the codecs.
