windows no disk error

i get an annoying windows no disk pop-up message at start-up.
I have window xp. I click on cancel about twelve times & it disapears only to come back the next day at start-up.

Do you have sp2 and all windows updates installed?

The restore previous folder at windows logon is unchecked....

Well i went to the link, and looked to see if my shell hardware detection was on automatic...it is..??
So i'm back to square one....login off for now.
Will work on this tomorrow...thanks.

 

Another thing to try:

Click START, then RUN, then type in: msconfig (press enter).

Next click the radial button (Selective startup). Then uncheck "Startup Items".

Press OK, Then OK to reboot.

Does this "fix" the problem? If so, some startup item is causing this issue.

Note, msconfig is a troubleshooting tool, not a be all, end all technique to fix any issues.
