My laptop will not let me delete windows.old
    I am the administrator.

I would like to gain back the 19.2GB.
My hard drive is only 73GB I have 33.7 free but the extra 19.2GB
would be nice. What am I doing wrong?

Have you tried opening the folder, and deleting the contents?

If that doesn't work, it gets a bit complicated. However, it's damnably odd that you don't have Administrator ownership of said folder.

Why did you format, and re-install?

Have you tried running the Windows cleaning application called "Disk Cleanup"

After you run Disk Cleanup and then when it completes it's scans check the "windows.old" cjocie and then click the OK button.

Side Note: You can find Disk Cleanup by searching for it after clicking the Start Menu button.

I open the folder and tried deleting each file one at a time same thing
    I don,t permission.

I reinstalled Windows because I thought it would delete all file
XP, ME, 2000 and 98 deleted everything I thought Vista would too.

Said file is my nieces collage and university crap.

How do I do the complicated way?

Apparently running Disk Cleanup as an Administrator circumvents permissions after a format, and change in User Account name.

    About ten minutes.

Got out of the shower, and peeked at the posts.

    I hope it's a healthy addiction.
